Culmination Website FAQs

How do we work with Culmination?
Some companies require precise and reliable data, while others need tissue or blood samples from our biorepository. We specialize in providing both, along with comprehensive blood analysis. Additionally, we have the expertise to manage prospective collection studies, allowing us to gather specific cohorts of blood or other targeted tissue types. Our team is ready to collaborate with you on these specialized collections to meet your research and operational needs.
Do you provide analyzed data?
We are able to provide data analysis to support your research.
Can we use our own analytical tools in our platform to analyze data?
You will be able to transfer data to a cloud-based platform where you will be able to implement your own analysis.
Can we work with the data ourselves on your platform?
Yes, you will be able to work within Jupyter Notebooks.
Can you describe intellectual property rights around discoveries made with Culmination data?
All discoveries made remain the sole property of the discovering entity; Culmination does not claim any rights to these discoveries.
What does Culmination expect in return for using the data?
Culmination doesn’t expect co-authorship on anything. We expect copies of that data if you’re generating RNA seq or DNA.
Can you describe the archival tissue samples?
Culmination has exclusive access to more than 9 million archival clinical tissue samples for various research studies. The biospecimens are FFPE and are collected during routine clinical care.
If we request archival tissue samples, will you actually send us the tissue samples, or do you analyze them and provide the analysis?
Culmination will send actual tissue samples to you or your contracted research lab at your direction.
What about IRB approval?
  1. For archival tissues, all samples are de-identified using an honest broker system. As a result of this de-identification, a waiver of consent permits their use in research.
  2. Consent to treatment at Intermountain Health includes an option for patients to allow the use of residual tissues for research purposes. Patients may opt out if they choose; otherwise, their tissues may be utilized for research in accordance with their consent.
  3. For prospective collections, project-specific IRB approval is obtained, and all patients provide informed consent prior to enrollment.
